"Dorset Holly"
Supporting the Donkey Project run by the Gambia Horse and Pony Trust

At the conclusion of the Annual Meeting held at the Crown Hotel, Blandford Forum and before we all sat down to an excellent Christmas lunch, it was agreed, - (after an impassioned plea from Wendy Richards who thought we might like to help those less fortunate than ourselves) - to support the Donkey Project run by the Gambia Horse and Pony Trust.
All the proceeds from our raffle £84.00, will be used to buy a donkey to help a poor family in the Gambia.
Our members by a majority vote agreed to call our donkey 'Dorset Holly'. Wendy will ensure that the money is sent to Heather Armstrong who masterminds this scheme.
Below is an extract from the Trust's winter newsletter.
We await news and photographs of 'Dorset Holly' so--------WATCH THIS SPACE.

Here is the Certificate from the Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust. The trust is extremely grateful for your generous sponsorship of a donkey for a Gambian family.
There will be a time lapse before we can send you a photograph of your donkey. Having received the donation, a suitable donkey will be selected and an appropriate owner identified. Then the owner must undergo training in donkey care and must build a stable for her. So is could take as long as three months before the owner and your donkey is finally united.
I look forward to up-dating you with good news and a photograph of 'Dorset Holly' with his new Gambian family very soon.
With very many thanks from the Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust
